The article is troll (as always with the daily mail) but it did bring up an interesting point. I can think of two friends that hit both sides of the fence on this one. One of them is one of the smartest people I know but struggles with reading and often puts letters in the wrong places. The other is... well kind of stupid and fit exactly with the problems introduced in the article.He was at university and had a special tutor that to all intents and purposes wrote his coursework for him (and this was a sociology degree so it had almost no exams). He got free computers, extra time on assignments and used his dyslexia as an excuse for everything. Lazy and stupid but hiding behind a label.The problem is, people like him make life harder for those with real problems. The term is becoming diluted and I have no doubt that many parents do get their kids diagnosed to save face and give them an edge - it really isn't hard at the moment. Maybe it would be an advantage to rebrand dyslexia with a term like reading difficulties as the middle classes would be less likely to highjack that one.
